FAQ’s
Who can apply for an Athlete Assistance Grant?
Athletes eligible to receive a grant must be a member of USA Gymnastics, have a minimum of one year of experience competing in Acro, and be competing in level 6 or above for the current competition season. Athletes under 18 must have a parent or guardian assist them with the application.
What criteria is used to evaluate the applications?
The AGF grant program committee uses the following criteria to evaluate grant applications (in no particular order):
Specific need for which the grant is being requested • Degree of financial hardship • Number of years in the sport and potential longevity in the sport • Athlete’s current competition level
What size are the grants?
Grants vary in range with a maximum of up to $2500 per applicant. The total grant program budget depends on the fundraising of the previous year.
Should I include additional information in my application?
We encourage all applicants to be thoughtful and thorough in their applications. We receive many more applications than we can fulfill, and more information helps the committee make the best decisions possible. If you have questions about completing your application, please email us.
When do applications open and when are grant decisions made?
Applications open in January and close in February of every year. Specific dates will be announced annually. Decisions are generally emailed to applicants between March and April.
When can I expect my grant to arrive?
Once grant recipients are contacted via email, the signed grant acceptance form and receipts of acro-related expenses must be submitted before grants are awarded. Additionally, grant recipients must notify AGF immediately of any change in address to ensure grant checks are mailed to the proper address. Please send us an email if you have any questions about receiving your grant check.
How is the Athlete Assistance Grant Program funded?
The program is funded by the proceeds of the annual #iheartacro bash, private donations, and grants. We are an all volunteer organization, so supporting our organization directly supports acro athletes.
